Presenting data on birth rates among religions as well as retention rates into adulthood, Kaufmann paints a grim picture for secularism. He points out that atheists typically have birth rates well below replacement rate, while extreme religions have birth rates that can stretch as high as seven children per household.
The best example of this dramatic demographic death spiral facing secularists is in Israel, where secular Judaism is dying out. At its conception, the state of Israel had less than 500 members of the Ultra-Orthodox Haredi sect. It now has over 750,000. What’s more, over 30% of Jews under the age of twenty were Haredi in 2009. It is projected that by 2060, there will be 5.84 million Haredi Jews in Israel. For those unaware, the Haredi Jews are those that abhor secularism, believe in strict Old Testament law, and do not shy from violence when their beliefs are threatened. Israel is undoubtedly the most extreme example of this demographic transition, aided by the fact that Jews hardly ever leave the Haredi movement.
One can also look to the rapid growth of the Amish community in Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as certain other Christian extremist groups in northern states like Montana. Michael Blume over at SciLogs writes…
“In fact, the high fertility rates of the Amish cannot be explained without their religious traditions – proving the evolutionary potential of religiosity. And please note that we know about a lot of other high-fertile religious communities as e.g. the Hutterites, the Mormons, the Haredim (ultra-orthodox Jews) etc. – but of not a single secular group that was able to have enough children to retain its numbers!”
Extremism is notably on the rise among Muslims in Europe, interestingly due to both high birth rates and a sense of ethnic exclusion that makes younger Muslims more religious and less liberal than their parents.
In an article about Kaufmann’s work the following response can be given to the query about the high rate of young people leaving religion…
“Kaufmann reinforces Bibby’s thesis that we are seeing signs of increasing polarization as moderate faith is being squeezed by both secularism and what Kaufmann calls fundamentalism. Kaufmann observes that secularism mainly erodes unconscious religion, what he refers to as the “taken-for-granted, moderate faiths that trade on being mainstream and established.” Self-conscious religion that places real demands on its adherents, offers an implicit or explicit critique of the excesses of secularism, and provides its adherents with a sense of identity and belonging in an otherwise indifferent or even hostile environment is the type of religion that survives.”
This stands as evident truth. Mainstream churches the Western world over are dying, and this is a good thing! Fraudulent churches that tolerate the vile, degenerate tide of Modernity and its most egregious trappings are heretical, and their members are useless to us, these fly by night Christians who will give up their principles when the first person says “boo!”.
The disintegration of these moderate influences will leave a vacuum that we can utilize to our political advantage. The West is becoming a spiritual void, and Islam has recognized this and moved to capitalize on it. Meanwhile, true Christians have sat around twiddling their thumbs worried about how the Presbyterian Church USA is doing.
I previously mentioned how radical Islam’s rise in various (mainly urban) centers of European immigrant enclaves was in part down to their usual status as an ethnic minority. Right on time, this effect will start to be seen in native European populations as well. Sweden, Belgium, France, the UK, and the Netherlands will be the first to experience this. City after city will become majority minority white and the disenfranchisement that white natives will see as a result will fuel more hatred and despair directed again at the ruling elite. In the USA, we will start to see this through only the ethnic paradigm, but the effect may still be potent.
As Muslims gain political power as their demographic putsch marches on, they will all feel a sense of brotherhood, community, allegiance to a common goal in spite of minor disagreements. The natives however, robbed of their culture, religion, and self-consciousness through decades of indoctrination, diversity, and draconian hate speech codes, will have nothing. They will be abused and rudderless and I am sure at that point practical democratic politics will have become such a rigged game that the elites won’t even bother trying to appeal to them. What’s more, as parties like UKIP fail to deliver what these voters secretly want, and as more extreme groups like Golden Dawn who try and play the game are stopped in their tracks with farcical arrests, they will be left with seemingly no alternatives.
Recruits must be attracted to an organization that is not some mob of hooligans who don’t know when to pick their battles, who run out to protests where they are outnumbered and humiliated, but rather an organization of men who follow a hierarchical authority and are orderly in their manner.
